We are now holding Playsession weekly – Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s

We are now holding Playsession weekly – Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s.  So hopefully more Educators will now be able to attend now that we are offering a different day.

We have had some wonderful events occur at Playsession recently.  On the 22 June, Valley View Primary School Training Band performed for us in the Hall.  The FDC Children were able to explore the instruments at the end of the performance and were encouraged to “have a go”.  They sat entranced and enjoyed the performance very much, inspiring many budding musicians.

On the 3 August six Educators and 22 children went for an excursion to the Eco Garden at Kariong.  What a fantastic morning!  The children learnt many things regarding sustainability and experienced many wonderful activities.  They were able to feed the chickens, prepare food for the worms in the worm farm and feed them too.  They were even able to paint the chook pen, water herbs, vegies and fruit trees, plant alfalfa sprouts and mung beans to take home, make spider webs, sing songs and listen to stories!  It was a very busy morning and lots of fun was had by all!

As a follow up to our Eco Garden visit we will have Eva Fox from Wyong Shire Council present a Water Education program on 23 August.

We hope to include more presentations, special events and park Playsessions in the upcoming weeks and will keep you all informed.

Jenny Crocker

Hours and days: Tuesday – Friday 8am-5pm

Training and Experience:
My name is Jenny Crocker I am a 43 yr old mother of two children and Im a grandmother. I have been an Educator with Gosford Family Day Care for the past 9 years,

I completed my certificate 111 in children’s services in 2010 with distinctions and continue to do in-service training within the childcare sector.

I feel that Family Day Care is an integral part of a child’s development it helps them to build friendships, share, grow and learn in a safe home environment with a large range of activities and learning experiences.

Philosophy:
My philosophy of care is to provide a happy, safe and caring environment where your children will learn to express themselves in a positive manner, enhance their social skills and assist with their emotional, physical and intellectual development, to help with a positive self esteem, high self worth and a sense of identity. This will give your child a lifelong strong emotional intelligence that gives them the ability to cope with life’s challenges and be active and productive in their communities.

I believe that rules and setting limits should be consistent with the age and stage of development of each child.

Each child will be treated as an individual with unique interests, strengths and abilities. In their own time, every child will achieve milestones in their learning and development making it important to cater for each child.

I feel it is essential to have a sense of continuity between home and care giving your child a sense of belonging.

I would like to maintain positive relationships and open communications with all parents. I feel we are working towards one common goal, to help your children grow to be happy, positive, thriving children who love life and provide them with a strong sense of being.

Opening Monday to Friday 7.00 AM to 8.00 PM from 5 September 2011

Weekend Care by can also be provided on request.

Training and Experience

As a 48 year young Mother of 3 and grandparent of 2, I have been caring for children for nearly 30 years. I have taught Piano to children during all of that period and have cared for other parents children for substantial periods of time. Since the start of 2011 I have operated my own Day Care, within the Gosford Day Care family of  Day Care Providers. I am currently completing my Certificate III in Child Care.

My Philosophy

My aim is to provide a safe, caring, professional, clean and reliable child care service, where children will feel comfortable, supported, and valued and where they will be encouraged to learn, by play and other creative activities, to explore their interests and their environment.

With no more than 5 preschool children being cared for at any one time, individual care and attention is provided within a home rather than institutional environment. Craft work, painting and drawing, storytelling, as well as outside play, feature prominently in my program of care as does musical appreciation which also includes hands on interaction with a keyboard.

Routine

7.00 – 9.00:  Arrivals and indoor play

9.00 – 9.30: Morning Tea, nappy changes/toileting and washing of hands.

9.30 – 12.00: Outdoor activities including craft, painting, riding tricycles, playing in sand pit and nature talks and interaction with garden.

12.00 – 12.30: Lunch Time, nappy changes/toileting and washing of hands.

12.30 – 1.00: quiet time – getting the children ready for a sleep or possibly just a rest.

1.00 – 2.00: Rest/Sleep time with quiet music playing.

2.00 – 3.00: First afternoon play session or storytelling and music activities.

3.00 – 3.30: Afternoon tea, nappy changes/toileting and washing of hands.

3.30 – 5.00: Second afternoon playtime or activities session.

5.00 – 8.00: Quiet time, some TV viewing of children shows only, whilst waiting for parents to pick their children up. Dinner is provided in the case of later pickups.

I place particular attention on having communal morning teas, lunches , afternoon teas and where appropriate dinners. Children sit together around a single table and I encourage good manners and behaviour as well as  independence and self help by having each child take their lunch boxes to and from the table as well as washing their hands etc afterwards.

The routine set out above is flexible and activities are varied and usually driven by children’s choices.
